Therefore in this article we&#8217;ll tell you about<strong> a few of the lesser known places<\/strong> that are outside the most usual tourist routes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosde.com\/en\/books\/barcelona.html\" target=\"_blank\">a gap in your itinerary<\/a> to go and visit them, because <strong>they&#8217;re really worth the time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>1. COLLSEROLA TOWER<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2104 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/torre-collserola-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Collserola Tower in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Built by Norman Foster in the year 1992, <strong>Collserola Tower provides many telecommunication services<\/strong>. The tower \u2013located at the top of a hill that reaches 425 metres above sea level\u2013 has a cylindrically shaped concrete shaft on which a fourteen storey structure is attached and which is crowned by a metal aerial.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The building has all the necessary technology to be able to provide the television and radio signal of Barcelona and the rest of its metropolitan area.<\/p>\n<h2>2. MONASTERY OF SAINT MARY OF PEDRALBES<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2101 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/monasterio-pedralbes-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Monastery of Saint Mary of Pedralbes, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Founded in the year 1327 by Queen Elisenda de Montcada \u2013wife of James II de Aragon\u2013, the monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes constitutes one of <strong>the most striking monumental arrangements of the Catalan Gothic<\/strong> thanks to its homogeneous appearance, result of its rapid construction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The different areas go around a three-storey cloister, which has one of its sides attached to a church. Open to the public in 1983, the monastery also <strong>holds an important collection of liturgical objects<\/strong> and works of art.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosde.com\/en\/books\/barcelona.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2147 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/BOTON_descubre-mas-ing.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"56\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>3. CASARAMONA<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2098 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/casaramona-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Facade of the Casaramona Factory, Caixaforum\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Originally the Casaramona Factory, of <strong>Modernist style, it has been home since 2002 to the Caixaforum<\/strong>, a cultural centre of the Obra Social La Caixa. Built in brick with wrought iron terminations by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, it rather looks like a castle.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The building conserves a frieze that refers to Casimir Casaramona, the owner of the former factory.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>4. CASA SAYRACH<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2097 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/casa-sayrach-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Ceiling and interior of the Casa Sayrach, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Greatly influenced by the work of Antoni Gaud\u00ed, in the year 1918 Manuel Sayrach constructed this <strong>incredibly detailed building of organic appearance<\/strong>. On the exterior, curved lines predominate as well as <strong>bone-like structures<\/strong>, which continue in the vestibule.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Responsible for channelling passage towards the inner block courtyard and the different residences, this space is structured around a series of softly-shaped columns that in turn support <strong>vaults of marine life inspiration<\/strong>, such as the latticework that is on the main staircase, based on the design of fishing nets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>5. THE PALACE OF THE BARON OF QUADRAS<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2102 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/palacio-baron-quadras-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Hall of the Palace of the Baron of Quadras, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Palace of the Baron of Quadras <strong>was built by Josep Puig i Cadafalch<\/strong> in 1902 and commissioned by Baron Manuel de Quadras. The palace on Avinguda Diagonal stands out for its historicist decoration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Presided over by a stone staircase, the interior courtyard is inspired by the design of medieval palaces.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>6. CASA COMALAT<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2096 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/casa-comalat-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Facade and interior of Casa Comalat, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Constructed in 1911 by Salvador Valeri i Pupurull, it has curved forms and a profusion of decorative details.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With <strong>Gaud\u00edan influence<\/strong>, the building is made up of two quite distinct fa\u00e7ades: the main one, situated on Avinguda Diagonal, is made from stone and has a symmetrical design; whilst the rear one, located on Carrer C\u00f2rsega, has a much more irregular shape and<strong> combines polychrome ceramic surface areas with wood galleries<\/strong> closed by blinds or shutters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosde.com\/en\/books\/modernisme.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2147 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/BOTON_descubre-mas-ing.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"56\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>7. PLA\u00c7A DE SANT FELIP NERI<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2103 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/plaza-sant-felip-neri-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Pla\u00e7a Sant Felip Neri, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Plaza de Sant Feliz Neri is presided by a baroque church that<strong> shows the effects of the bombs<\/strong> thrown by the fascists during the Spanish Civil War. The square is in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona and is flanked by modernist style houses.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>8. THE BASILICA OF SANTA MAR\u00cdA DEL MAR<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2095 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/basilica-santa-maria-del-mar-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Facade of the Bas\u00edlica of Santa Mar\u00eda del Mar, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Basilica of Santa Mar\u00eda del Mar is <strong>a symbol of maritime power of medieval Barcelona<\/strong>. It was built between 1329 and 1384 with contributions from the neighbourhood\u2019s residents. The main fa\u00e7ade stands out for its solid appearance, while the columns provide the temple with verticality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>9. SANT PAU HOSPITAL<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2100 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/qa-dosde.qamoon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/hospital-sant-pau-barcelona-dosde-publishing.jpg\" alt=\"Interior of Hospital de Sant Pau, in Barcelona\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Spanning more than nine hectares, Hospital de Sant Pau designed by Llu\u00eds Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner converted into <strong>the most important modernist style civil work planned in Europe<\/strong>. Its construction was possible thanks to the financial support of banker Pau Gil, who wanted to create an important medical reference centre in the city.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner resorted to hardwearing materials that, at the same time, helped generate an atmosphere appropriate for the tranquility of the patients. On the exterior fa\u00e7ades <strong>the architect prioritised the use of red brick<\/strong>, which he <strong>combined with stone<\/strong>. As for the roofs and the cladding on the cupolas, he opted for ceramic work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>10.
